 Manager of Railcar Tracking & Management

Quality Transportation Services, Inc. in Mechanicsville VA is a growing railcar shipping and service-oriented transportation company. QTS is called to serve business leaders in American manufacturing to achieve their objectives through proactive management of their rail responsibilities. We are accepting applications from qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Manager of Railcar Tracking & Management.

 Duties include:

·         Working closely with the Management team, help set and execute the company’s strategic initiatives
·         Account for and measure Tier 1 workflow
·         Produce production charts for RTM
·         Create baselines & benchmarks for daily department performance
·         Manage daily operational issues
·         Facilitate new customer implementations for department
·         Host department meetings; facilitate daily stand-up meetings
·         Responsible for adherence to QTS policies and employee disciplinary counseling
·         Represent RTM in Sprint planning and Application Development discussions
·         Serve as liaison between QTS Tracking Department and various carrier customer service and administrative groups
·         Serve as liaison with other QTS departments
·         Attain knowledge of rail laws and regulations.
Skills and requirements:
·         Extensive management background
·         Demonstrated process management knowledge/skill
·         Railroad or other transportation experience preferred
·         Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications required
·         Ability to create, understand and communicate productivity reports
·         Excellent communication skills to include grammar, spelling, and written communication
·         Intuitive, problem solver with analytical thinking skills
·         Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload to ensure efficient and effective use of time and resources. 
·         Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
·         Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications or other business related area or commensurate experience
·         A minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in logistics or transportation
·         Rail experience is a plus
·         Extensive management background
·         TQM, Six Sigma and/or SPC experience is helpful
·         Prior military personnel welcomed and encouraged to apply
·         Management experience in customer support environment is helpful
