List of all the Mexican Statutory holidays in 2018:  

There are 6 official holidays, as follows:

  • Jan 1 - New Year's official
  • Feb 5 or the first Monday in February - Constitution Day official
  • Mar 19 or the closest Monday - Benito Juarez's birthday official
  • May 1 - Labor Day official, always observed on date
  • Sep 16 - Independence Day official, observed on date
  • Dec 25 - official holiday for Christmas

Other days that people customarily take off:

  • Lighter than usual work attendance through Jan 6.
  • Maundy Thursday and Good Friday - unofficial but many people take as holidays and some banks don't operate
  • Lighter than normal work attendance due to "Spring Break" of school children the weeks prior to and following Easter Sunday
  • May 10 - Mother's Day, unofficial, always observed on date. Working mothers take off and many people take half days to be with their mothers
  • Sep 15 - Unofficial but many people take a half day as Independence Day celebrations start at night
  • Nov 1 and 2 - unofficial but many people take off for Days of the Dead, some banks and government offices close
  • Dec 12 - unofficial, Virgin of Guadalupe pilgrimage. Banks are closed and many people in Mexico City take off or work from home due to crowds arriving in the city
  • Really busy time of year from Dec 12 onward-- don't plan to travel although you can still catch people in the office.
  • Dec 24 - most people take off as Christmas dinner is celebrated on Christmas Eve, banks and government normally close early
  • Most government offices close from Christmas through January
