FMA CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

October 25, 1916 - October 25, 2016

Ottawa, ON: The Freight Management Association of Canada celebrated its 100th Anniversary on October 13th with a reception at the International Centre in Mississauga following the Surface Transportation Summit hosted by Newcom Business Media. Shippers, carriers and other industry stakeholders came out to help celebrate this significant milestone.

Nick Krukowski, Publisher, Canadian Shipper Magazine, toasted the FMA’s 100 years by saying “We are here to celebrate FMA's 100th anniversary, which is an incredible milestone.  Being in supply chain media, we've had the pleasure of working with Bob and his team on many projects over the years.  And I can say that, in addition to solidly representing the interests of shippers during this time, they have done so with a class and professionalism that would do credit to any organization.  Please join me in raising a glass to the FMA's first 100 years, and in wishing them every success in the years to come.”

The celebration included FMA members, delegates from the Surface Transportation Summit and government representatives including Kate Young, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport.  Ms. Young acknowledged FMA on behalf of the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport: “My sincere congratulations to the Freight Management Association of Canada on this remarkable milestone. I commend the FMA’s efforts to promote an integrated approach to transportation and look forward to continuing our collaboration for many years to come.”

FMA would like to thank its many members for giving voice to freight transportation issues over the years and would also like to give a special thank you to its partners: Canadian National Railway, Chamber of Marine Commerce, Quality Transportation Services, Canadian Tire, Port of Hamilton, Port of Halifax, Port of Vancouver and Bunge for supporting the Centennial Celebration Reception. The FMA team is proud of this achievement and is looking forward to the next 100 years.

The Freight Management Association of Canada (FMA), The National Voice of the Shipper, promotes policies and legislation through advocacy focusing specifically on freight transportation issues. FMA represents the interests of the Canadian shipper community to help achieve positive change that will directly affect a company’s bottom line. The primary role is advocacy on behalf of the buyers of freight transportation with all levels of government, carrier groups and with foreign governments and agencies

QTS's own Daren Gardner is just about ready to ride as the Lead Road Captain for the 2013 Kross Kountry-4-Kids sea-to-shining-sea motorcycle ride to promote a better society for families and raise awareness of National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.

The team leaves Easter Sunday morning from the Sunrise Events Center in Rancho Cordova, CA and will ride to Washington D.C. where on Sunday, April 7 a rally will be held at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Judiciary Square.  The rally begins at 2:00 PM.  At the conclusion of the rally, the team will repeat the journey back to California.

"I am honored and look forward to leading the 12-member Team KK4Kids for this year's journey that kicks off National Child Abuse Prevention Month, April 2013," Daren said.

And we're proud to support Daren in this wonderful cause.

January 11, 2013:  Quality Transportation Services, Inc. (QTS) is proud to sponsor our own Daren Gardner in the 2013 Kross Kountry-4-Kids:  A Journey 4 Justice. Kross Kountry-4-Kids is a  cross-country motorcycle caravan to raise awareness and support for America's youth.  April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the event is organized by Army of Angels.   The trek will run from March 31, 2013 to April 14, 2013 with the caravan traveling from Folsom, CA to Washington, DC and back (some 6181 total miles!).  The group hopes to educate the public, support law enforcement organizations, and raise funding for programs that help fight crime and abuse against children.

Daren, a Fleet Coordinator at QTS, will serve as co-road captain for the event.  An avid motorcycle rider, Daren has participated in many similar events over the years, even carrying the U.S. Constitution on his bike.

QTS updates

Please check back here for udates from Quality Transportation Services.

“QTS also does an excellent job digging into issues with ETA’s to report back on what is causing the delays with the railcars. By providing updates on critical railcars, QTS has helped (us) prevent shutting down tissue machines.”
