Customer Bulletin – Canada Post Strike Contingency Plans

As a result of the cessation of Canadian Postal Services due to the lockout announced on June 14, 2011, CP, in conjunction with the Royal Bank of Canada, has implemented a plan to continue receiving payments from our valued customers.  CP has arranged for all invoice amounts issued to be available or visible through MyAccount.  Therefore, we expect payments will continue to be remitted to CP within credit terms.

The following outlines procedures to ensure continued & uninterrupted payment reception in conjunction with the complete interruption of postal services.

     1.  You may deliver your cheques for payment of CP invoices to any RBC branch for onward delivery to the respective CP Lockbox Centre. In addition to the normal address, the envelopes must be clearly marked “WHOLESALE LOCKBOX” in bold lettering.  CAUTION – Not marking the envelope with the words “WHOLESALE LOCKBOX” and simply relying on the postal address on the envelope may mean the item is delayed for the duration of the strike, or,

     2.  Send envelopes directly to the CP Lockbox Processing Centre via your company arranged courier.  Refer to the table below for correct addressing.

CP requests that customers utilize Option 1 as described above with the specified “WHOLESALE LOCKBOX” clearly & boldly indicated on all envelopes containing payments normally issued to the multiple CP Lockbox addresses.  Please ensure the instructions are implemented with your respective Accounts Payables areas immediately.  Customers who do not mail payments/cheques to CP should continue to issue payments via the electronic means currently being employed.

Please direct any further inquiries regarding this contingency plan to your Accounts Receivable Representative whose co-ordinates appear on all invoices issued by CP.

Your co-operation during this difficult time is most appreciated.
